stopping birthcontrol question

hi everyone!
so i stopped birth control two months ago, after being on it for five years. i know it can stay in your body for a really long time, 6 months plus sometimes. but does that mean you will be feeling symptoms of changes that long? or does that mean it can make ttc more difficult?
i didn't feel so emotional until month two. and i am wondering how long i will be experiencing this. at first we thought i was pregnant because i was so emotional but i got a bfn on the tests we took. so i can only think that its the birth control doing this to me. and i am wondering if its even worth ttc for the next few months if our efforts will be fruitless.
what do you think? i would really appreciate your experiences and thoughts.
thanks!!

thanks!!! wow thank you for sharing your story, that made me smile to hear everything turned out alright. i'm sorry you had to go through a miscarriage thats horrible! but your advice on the cm is wonderful! i noticed it last month and i was sure we hit that window. but apparently not, or the birth control is still controlling...not sure.  but we will keep an eye again this month. trying to not put too much pressure on that though, we're keeping our minds open and keeping in mind that it will happen when it happens and there is no rush or timeline to this. but your experience really helps and i appreciate you sharing your knowledge with me.
thanks so much!!!

I can tell you my own personal experience.  I was on the pill for 7 1/2 years, went off and got a period right away.  My periods were either early or late and then about 3 months after going off I was pregnant (unfortunatly I found out in the ER while having what turned out to be a miscarriage).  But, the one thing I didn't have on BC (obviously) was CM, and when I looked back at when I had EWCM I always got my period 14 days after the last day of EWCM.  Even the conception date of my current baby was the day after I last had EWCM.  I know every women's body is different, but that was my only sign that I was ovulating and it was definitly on target.  It will take time for your body to adjust to not being on the pill, but you can get pregnant right after getting off the pill - so it's just up to whether you conceive in that little 24-36 hour window period.  It will happen when it's right.  After m/c'ing it took 5 months to get pregnant again, so a total of 9 months of TTC.  It was definitly worth the wait though.  Good luck!

hey! thanks stokie and mumita for your words of wisdom. that is what we plan on doing, go at things like normal and see what happens. but we are wanting to add to our family so we will just have to keep our fingers crossed. we are a very active couple so it doesn't feel like added stress to try at all. so that is an added bonus.  we have been keeping our eyes on ovulation via cm. but next month i might try taking my temperature in the morning.
i am starting to feel more like myself today actually. i feel much more full of energy today too, which is nice!
jdlk, i was experiencing dizziness and nausea. i had cramps in the middle of my cycle and the big one was major mood swings. i would go from laughing to sobbing to unhappy thoughts about everything!!! i am blessed to have a wonderful husband and he was patient and listened to me and sat by me the entire time.  but i feel terrible when that happens because i know it really hurts him to see me so upset and angry. but we that was only like two days out of 60 so far.  oh and my cycle is a little out of wack also. i started my second period off of the birth control five days early.  which makes me wonder if i am really a 23 day cycle. guess we'll see next month, i keep a record of everything that happens and i will mark things for 23 days and 28 days just to see.
good luck with going off the pill!
and thank you ladies for your help.

I agre with Stokie, you never know if it'll take longer to get a BFP or you'll get it right away.  i'd say just don't fret about it, stay off the pills and have sex as regular, pay particular attention to when you are Ovulating but don't make ttc a Sport, you will get your BFP when you least expect it.
The first couple of months after I went off the pills my body was kinda crazy for a little bit but then it went away soon.  You will start feeling your body back to normal soon, but your hormones go a little crazy at first trying to adjust to the right dosage ;)  good luck.

i stopping taking the pill after 6years of taking it. it took me only 3 months to get a BFP. we weren't trying for baby but my son came along. he's now 12months old. i was told the type pf pill i was on it could take over a year to get a BFP but i was lucky. I am now expecting my second child (a lillte girl) in 2 weeks time. my son and daughter will be 13months apart in age. i couldn't believe it when we found out.

I think its up to you if you want to TTC. if you feel you can cope with getting a BFN i say enjoy the trying part. if you dont think you could cope with a BFN i say leave it for while. enjoy your life with your partner and you never know you might just get a BFP when you least expect it!!!!!

Good luck and i hope you get your BFP.
