summertime :)

So its 17 degrees over here in Scotland  (62 farenheit), yesterday it was 24 degrees (75 farenheit)   just wondering what babes should be wearing when am out and about with him,   yesterday he was wearing a vest, lightweight trousers and a tshirt with a light blanket over him when we went for a walk and understanably he was hot, when we came home i stripped him to his nappy and lay him on his playmat and it seemed to settle him.   today he has shorts, t-shirt and a vest on and will likely be the same tomorrow as its to be a scorcher of a weekend.   we'll be taking him on a walk, most of which is in the shade as the route is tree-lined, but I can't be bothered listening to catty remarks from BDs gran about how babes isn't suitably dressed for the weather (she is so old fashioned, is of the belief the house should be warm for baby that I keep having to get her to turn her heating off cause the house should ideally be 16-20 degrees inside and she has it at like 25 - 30 :/, that a baby should have vest, clothes, cardi and a blanket whenever they go out etc etc etc)     im just wondering what he should be wearing - we aren't accustomed to warm weather over here, lol x

Lol well we are lucky to get 12 degrees here (53 farenheit) so 75 is like the best we get - Scotland is as cold and as rainy as you see in the films lol :) x

Yeah I'm wearing a maxi dress today so he in his vest and I changed his shorts and tshirt to a short sleeved, knee length onsie then stuck a wee pair bootees on him and ook the shawl with us when we went shopping.   I don't have a bug net yet....I'll need to invest in one.   We will have the parasol up though.   He has cotton dungarees wthat only go to his knees so I'll put him in them with a vest underneath to keep him cool, and I'll pack an extra cotton onsie with short sleeves / legs in case the dungarees are too hot for him.   The pram we have is a travel system so when we take him walks he goes into the carry cot bit which is lined and has a non-detachable cover so I'll be taking the lightest blanket I can find in case he gets cold xx

I know, I'm not complainong but just don't want Logan overheating lol.   i ended up taking off his shorts and t-shirt and stuck a knee length onsie on him with short sleeved to make him cooler then popped his shawl over him when we went shopping lol.   Yeah at bedtime he just been wearing a vest and in his sleep bag as this house is roasting even though we haven't had the heating on all week :)    She is such a nightmare and we shouted at her two weeks ago for interfering (well, Lee did) I can't be bothered with the remarks lol.  xx

I'm in England and we ain't too different on weather... I'd just put shorts n t-shirt on, carry a light weight jacket/blanky... I've not had my boy yet but ill be putting him in sane or a vest n shorts... His pram and buggy is black, so is the parasol so he's gonna be warm... Don't forget the bug net, down here we get weird bugs coming over on the hot winds .. some are monsterous!!!

Babies get cold as heck really easy. I had my daughter in July last year in good ole Waco Texas and it was hotter than hell. I put her in a onesie and a pair of little shorts and kept a blankie in case. But I wouldn't get her outside for more than 5 or 10 minutes because it was over 100 degrees. The general rule is to put your baby in an extra layer than what you wear.but in extreme heat the best bet is to keep them inside

My midwife told me that baby only needs one more layer than u need. I see that as im wearing a vest top n jeans so baby is wearing a vest some light weight leggings and a tshirt. Im in the uk too and my daughter hates being too warm, on a walk the other day i ended up stripping her to her vest because she was red hot and cranky. Weve not fussed over her being too cold (obv not let her freeze) during winter, not put the heating on too much, if im getting chilly then i put a blanket on her.... ive always been told its more dangerous for baby to get too hot.

That's a good Idea take the blanket with you just incase. Sorry for saying this but sod gran if babys ill of course you want to soothe him. What's right for one generation isn't always right for another, maybe have your bd try and explain this to her. Although it's often nice to hear others advice you dont want it rammed down your neck every 2minutes. If you ever need to talk just send of a message x

Thanks, I was trying to google it but not getting far other than lightweight clothing etc.   i know its generally one more layer than what we would wear but that would be vest and then there's the blanket too?   I'm a ftm aswell and babes is only 4 weeks old so am still getting used to it all but i hate the remarks from BDs gran cause we already shouted at her twice for criticising our parenting (once being that we coddled him too much when he was being sick and had diarrhoea at only 2 weeks old cause he needs to learn to self soothe - poor thing was screaming in pain)     I'm thinking maybe light dungarees which go to just under his knees and a vest with them, then a light blanket in case it gets chilly or breezy while we are out.     Thank you and have a lovely weekends too :) x

Hi hun im a ftm so may not be much help but im in Cumbria and it's been scorching down here to and all the other mums seem to be doing the same as you, shorts tshirt and vest it's far to hot in my opinion to be putting layers upon layers of clothes on the lil ones. You're his mum you know what is best for him not his gran (however much she thinks she knows best lol) trust your instinct and I hope you have a lovely weekend :)
