Thank y'all. I appreciate it. After countless tries and looking up stuff. I finally got it. Guess for some of us new mom's it takes a bit. Plus I went to a lactation consult to be sure I was doing it all right. She showed me a few other ways. :) again thanks everyone
My son is 4 days old and breastfeeding is going well. Be sure to make sure their mouth is completely around ur areola as well not just the nipple. Squeeze some out first then put it in his/her mouth so she can taste.
Look up "nipple to nose breastfeeding" and you will see examples of what you need to do.
My baby is 4 weeks old
And I get my nipple and place it on his nose and then to his mouth to get him to open his mouth.
Once he opens I put my nipple In his mouth.
You have to have a good hold of you breast (Hold it closer to you nipple so it's easier to put in his mouth)
Also have a good hold of your baby.
Make sure his mouth Is covering your whole nipple for a good latch.
Good luck
I used the nipple shield for the first 3 weeks because my baby girl wouldn't latch but after that I weaned her off and she latches perfectly. We have been breastfeeding on deman for 3 months now ! So maybe try a nipple shield and see if it helps her latch :)
It helps to hold your nipple between your fingers and direct it into the baby's mouth . also maybe try positioning her differently. Like prop her up on a pillow and try holding her like a football (for lack of better discription) with her legs under your arm. Sorry if I'm doing a terrible job describing it! But if you goodle it they actually show you pictures of different breastfeeding positions!
Have you tried squeezing a little milk into her mouth first?
