@scarletbegoniass yeah youre lucky, but I found ways around it. Having a short tongue made it really tough to accomodate my daughter.  Bottles she coupsnt latch to and my nipple she couldn't get her mouth around. When I finally found a bottle with a long enough nipple the pump quit pulling more than 2-3ozs per 1hr session.

If you can get the baby to latch to the breast that's a better option. The baby's mouth pulls out a lot more milk then a pump does. I lost my supply due to pumping. Plus it's easier if you get the baby attached to the breast because at night you can have the baby next to you, rather than wake up grab the pump and other supplies, then still have to feed the baby.

Brest pumping gives you breastmilk same as breastfeeding so neither is HEALTHIER. What are you asking? If formula is better than breast milk or if pumping will give you more milk than a straight latch?

My son has a short tongue and tongue tie which prevents him from latching directly to my breast. The pump works great for me. I get nearly 6 oz every time I pump (every 3 hours)

Pumping is NOT better. In fact pumps do not pull nearly as much milk as a babys suckle. A lot of breastfeeding moms get really discouraged and quit when the pump doesnt pull anything or not very much bc they think it means they arent producing. Pumps can be very misleading. Nothing beats directly breastfeeding.
