The only foods you are supposed to avoid are deli meats that have been on a cold bar all day, unpasteurized dairy products(feta cheese, queso, etc.), no raw meat(sushi) and do your research on eating fishes that are high in mercury, and limit your caffeine intake(2 cups per day is safe). Trust me I asked my ob all these questions the second visit I had with her, her exact words were "you are pregnant, not handicapped." She even said it was fine for me to eat queso because we have never had an outbreak of listera where we live. I eat what I want and I've had a perfectly healthy pregnancy this far, and I haven't gained tons of weight, only 10 lbs! Don't stress too much over it.

Well thats a little silly  no hot food?
Of course you can eat hot food you wally (no offence intended)

Hot food is fine, soda is fine infact keeping your sugars up is important, just dont drink it like its water, a small cup each day will cause no harm.

The things you must be wary of is uncooked meat / deli meat- no ham, no salami, no pepperoni ect.

Be carefull with eggs, look online for exactly how they should be cooked, they cant be under or you can become ill.

No soft cheeses, camenbert, bree, fetta ect.

Keep up your prenatal vitimins, eat as healthy as possible but treat yourself in moderation,  your preganant not sugar entolerent so a chocolate when feeling flat or a small glass of fizzy drink is encouraged :-)

Spicy food is perfectly fine. Only thing it could cause is heartburn. And as for soda it's okay as well, just limit it to one a day or just a few a week (:
