i saw a heartbeat at a little over 6 weeks with an adominal ultrasound. i heard it also but this was with a vaginal ultrasound. it really totally depends on the baby...some are slower than others. i am so sorry to hear about your miscarriage--i hope this time you have a happy healthy 9 months! keep us posted. :)
If you want to be 100% sure you will see a heartbeat, wait until you are 8 weeks. Good luck to you and I am sorry for your loss.
i had an appointment at 10 weeks and they couldn't find the heartbeat with the heart doppler. so i didnt hear it until my ultrasound at 12 weeks. you may have to wait until then.
I've had 3 kids and am on number 4.... for me never fails I always hear the heart beat at 6weeks and then every appointment after that. Sorry for your loss! I hope everything turns out good for you
Most docs won't schedule an appt until you are 8-12 weeks along anyway. 7-8 weeks is the norm to see a heartbeat via sonogram. They won't use the heart doppler (on your abdomen) until week 12 usually.
I saw my baby's heartbeat at 6 weeks on the dot. Good luck.
I also had a miscarriage before this preg. 2 in fact. My doc would not see me until 12 weeks this time, although she did send me for a 10 week ultrasound to check for viability. This is what was written on the page when I brought it to the hosp. I was pleased with this as last time I had an ultrasound at 6 weeks and it was a horrible and heartbreaking experience. No heartbeat was detected at 6 weeks, then I had to return and it was found at 7 weeks. I don't believe in getting an ultrasounf before about 8 weeks as there is NOTHING to really see. Often we leave the apt. in tears or more stressed with questions not answered. I am very pleased with how she did not see me until the 12 week mark, although lemme tell you it was a long 12 weeks. Hope this helps a little.
I honestly think it depends on your doctor and hospital 's way of doing things. For example when I had my first appt at 7 weeks, I didnt hear it on the doppler. I had to wait until my 12 week appt to hear and see her HB on the ultrasound. some hospitals will give you an early ultrasound and doppler while others wont. My last ultrasound was at 18 weeks, and im 27 now, wont have anymore unless there are concerns.. I would ask the clinic before making an appointment atleast. Good luck with everything and have a blessed 9 (10 lol) months.
The Norm is 8 weeks, i already had to go through this, but in certain states the dr want you to wait till 12, but 8 is def fine. Even 7 you will see the heart beat. But shoot for the 8 w mark.
