Why do some people say your really pregnant for 10 months? Confused

Because some women don't know what they're talking about lol. All months except for February are 4 weeks plus 2 or 3 days, so there are actually more than 4 weeks in a month so you cannot count by 4 weeks to figure out how many months you are. If you look at a calendar and count from your last menstrual period to your due date it is 9 months, not 10. I really don't get how so many women get confused about this. I'm 22 weeks so I'm almost 5 months but a lot of women say 22 weeks is 6 or 7 months, which makes absolutely no sense, especially since the third trimester doesn't start until 27 weeks when you are 6 months.

To the original question - because people don't seem to know how calendars work. If there were only 4 weeks in a month, there would be 13 months in each year (52 ÷ 4 = 13) but my calendar doesn't seem to have that extra page...
To an earlier poster - 40 weeks isn't calculated from the period you missed, it's calculated from the first day of the last period you had before conception. LMP doesn't mean last missed period, it means last menstrual period.
And just as an extra CSB - I've got a friend who delivered her third baby at 43w4d... the only person I've ever known who actually went 10 months from LMP to delivery. That chick is tough.

They count 40 weeks from your last period, not your missed. To conceive, your body restarts when you have your period. Your body starts producing the follicle that holds the egg and getting your uterine lining ready so they consider that part of the pregnancy because it's like your body's prep work

Don't mean to jump on your post but I was wondering why they count the first few weeks but when I look it says I'm just ovulating ...there isn't even a baby yet?

A full pregnancy is 40 weeks. IF there was 4 weeks in a month then it would be 10 months but because there isn't it is 9 months. But 40 weeks from your first missed period is your due date.

Because they count the months as 4 weeks but months are longer than 4 weeks you are only pregnant 9 months

Because a full term baby is 40 weeks. If theirs 4 weeks a month basically 40/4=10
