I was experiencing some weird heart things earlier in this pregnancy. It turns out I was having panic/anxiety attacks. My iron levels were low (as I wasn't eating enough protein; meat makes me want to throw up!) and I had a few days where I didn't get enough water.

Once I started getting more protein in my diet and increased my water, the palpitations went away as well.

I'd still notify your doctor (as I did notify mine). They'll want to rule anything out.

A HR of ~78 is nothing to worry about but do mention it to your doctor at your next appointment.  If your heart is going through "racing" then "slower" stages you might be experiencing heart palpitations.  Let your doctor know and they can determine is you are one of the numerous women who suffers benign heart palps or if something else is going on.

Your heart is pumping about 50% more blood than a non-pregnant woman. A racing heart and breathlessness can be normal but should always be checked out by a doctor, just to be on the safe side.

Increase heart rate is normal to an extent.  How many beats per minute was your heart beating when you noticed this?
