Good luck at the appt later this month. Hopefully it will provide some more info to help you in making the right decisions for your son. Sounds like you are doing everything you can to help him. Keep us posted!
Actually that is what I go threw.. it is not the sound, but the vibrations they feel.. just watch when you start to go for walks, my son use to freeze in the middle of streets, and drop anything in his hands when he would feel those vibrations.. There are brushing techniques that really really helped him, and I use to have him put his fingers in his ears when he would start to feel or hear that, he still does it to this day, and it gives me the sign just to keep an eye on him.. And my son is 15 years old now.. But even being a preemie of 28 weeks, he does sports, gets good grades and does all the things all the other kids do.. Even has his first girlfriend.. So NO they dont grow out of it, but you can learn to teach them to get threw it.. He was in early intervention the frist month he came home.. and until he was four.. by than he could write short stories and read small passages.. So good luck, but dont over look anything...
Sorry just got back to you Dillan decided to have a throwing up session all day yesterday. At the moment he sees an OT , speech therapist, dietician,a phycollogist , a genetics appointment has been arranged. he's under portage and is waiting for an early years speciallist to be assigned to him. He's had his hearing tested and they said it was fine, though loud noises like motor bikes and planes scare him. Have been told will know more about whats wrong with him on 30/04 as he's got the appointment with the genetics speciallist
I agree with swade that the feeding issues should be assessed as part of the larger picture. Peg feedings may be necessary to help him grow right now, but it sounds like other therapies could help with the sensory and communication issues. Also, has he had his hearing tested?
He sounds like he was born very small, even for a 32 weeker. My 32 week twins were about 4 lbs each. Have your doctors suggested any other tests to rule out anything else related to growth? Hang in there. I know preemies can be challenging, but there are great services now that are available which might help.
You need to have him looked at for the autism spectrum and not sesory issues, my son has the sensory issues, and is border line autisum. Autisum childern also are picky eaters, and sometime you just have to find the right food and than the child will eat. I know a couple of childern that are the same way. And please dont take this the wrong way, but if you get things straight now you can also deal with them properly. Are you in early intervention? Preemies get that too..
