Anything at this time (one month out) is good.  It took me a couple of months but soon after I was able achieve a full erection without the aid of drugs or devices.  That was 4.5 years ago.

Surgery was performed in March of 2012 and I have yet, to experience a full erection. Its depressing and frustrating but I'm staying positive. I am currently taking Cialis but that is pretty much it. My wife helps out as much as she can but all I have achieved is minor enlargement.

I'm 69, and had a Radical Prostatectomy in 1999 (supposedly with nerve sparing) followed by radiation treatment and hormone therapy. Thankfully, my PSA is now neglegible; and I have not had any further signs of cancer. Some years ago I tried drugs like Viagra, Levitra, and Cialis with little effect. The latter gave me heart palpations and I had to be rushed to hospital in an ambulance.

For some reason or another, I have been recently getting strong sexual urges and am again investigating the possible use of other medications (one is an injection and another a suppository) and perhaps even a vacuum pump!  I do get a half-erection or feeling of fullness (especially early in the morning lol).  I am not keen to have an injection and am thinking that maybe the suppository or the vacuum/penis pump might be the way to go.  Anyway, I am battling with this problem and have as yet not come to any conclusion as to which way to go!  I am wondering if anyone has had experience with vacuum pumps or the medicine (Alprostadil Suppositories) and can provide any information on their effectiveness?

Surgery was preformed Oct 01,2009 I have not had an erection since. I have the pump and it does nothing except irritate me. I cannot take vigiria or cililas as I have a stent in my heart and us nitro if I have a reacurrence of heart problems. My Doctor has given me the shot method but even that does not give me an erection that I can penetrate with even with lubricant. Does anyone out their experince these same problems

I'm 48 years old. I have not had a hard erection since surgery last May. I often get fullness, sensation and increased size. I have not tried medication any devices yet.

Have you had any uncomfortableness/side effects from the Muse?  Do you think the minimal dosage is responsible for the lack of side effects?  It is encouraging to hear that you can "almost" perform without any assistance.  I have thought about acupressure.  It was the one thing that had helped my grandfather after a stroke. I appreciate your comments and the great flow of information.

One thing that helped me was acupressure back massage along with other things I will mention shortly.

I had unilateral nerve sparing (one nerve only). I never could get any erection after surgery until I started using a pump (medically prescribed vacuum device) combined with a very small (the smallest dose available) of muse. What you are doing seems similar by combining viagra with the pump, but Viagra has a lot of side effects if you use it a lot. I think what also helped me was the acupressure stimulating nerves in my back, since nerves in your back run to that area and through that area. The pump kept the muscles from deteriorating. Shortly after my surgery, I found a girlfriend. I was determined to perform. I did not want to live alone the rest of my life. The above therapies worked well for me, and I tried a lot of things. The continuation of these therapies over 12 months almost helped me perform without the pump + muse, but it was not enough. I still needed it to get started. Hope this information helps.

am assuming that you mean unassisted or at least with the help of only a pill such as viagra.  There are so many variables.  I read of one patient where he had one within a week, another patient still had not had one unassisted within 3 months.  It is anywhere from about 3 months to two years.  I read last night that erections can improve up until about 4 years after surgery.  So that is good news because your first post surgery erection probably won't be what it used to be, but there is hope that it will improve.

I had my surgery Oct 19 and have yet to have an unassisted erection, though i have have some "tingling" and "fullness" occur every day.  My doctor seemed pleased by this progress.  It can take an individual up to two years to have a fully spontaneous erection.  The best course of action to strengthen your ability is to follow your doctors order for penile rehabilitation.  Early on, it is about getting blood flowing into your penis and assisting the nerves in repairing themselves.  I am using a VED and viagra with success.  I had been taking L-Arginine and propianyl L-Carnitine as well, but have decided to hold off until I have my PSA retested in January.  B-12 is supposed to be very good for helping (any) nerves repair themselves after damage.  I take a multi-B now but will be getting a B-12 supplement soon.  Some doctors prescribe a caverject as first line of action along with viagra.  You will know right away if you can obtain an erection with the shot.  Because many men in my doctor's practice don't like needles--an really who does?--he prescribes a vacuum device as first line.  It is cumbersome, but it works for therapy, although I am looking forward to the day when i won't need it just to have an erection.

Don't be discouraged.  Though It has seems like a long time since surgery for me, I look back and realize it has been only two months. Good luck on your recuperation.
