Help me please

I have visited two doctors in the last six doctors in the last three years trying to get cured of my prostatitis. I am having burning sensations when I urinate, frequest urges to urine, Urethral discharges with every bowel movement, difficultly having an erection, painful ejaculations, pain at the tip of my penis and testicles and dribbling of urine. Two doctors prescribed me SMZ-TMP. All together, I have taken this SMZ-TMP for six months and quite frankly, nothing has changed and my body is not responding to this medication. The problem is, these two doctors are very stubborn and think they know it all. While my problem still exist as we speak. Are there other treatments for Prostatitis? And how can I convince my doctor or doctors to prescribe me something else instead of keep pumping me with SMZ-TMP?  Please email me at ***@****   I really need help. I cannot keep a woman in my life because my penis will not stay hard or get hard!  And my testicles are strinking.  My semen count is extremely low and testesterone levels are low and my prolactic levels are getting higher. It is like am losing my manhood, so please help me doctor or any one else reading this question.

Thanks Ash Tewari, MD.  My new doctors has suggested that I get a PSA Test and a Urine Culture. Is she stairing me in the right direction?

Hello Sir,

From your history, it sounds like you are having bouts of chronic prostatitis, which could lead to the symptoms you have been describing. However, the shrinking testicles is   not really explained by prostatitis. There are other drugs which could be used to treat prostatitis such as ciprofloxacin/levaquin, or ampicillin/gentamycin or any other antibiotic that covers predominantly gram negative organisms, which is generally the cause of prostatitis. A prostatic abscess is also a possibility if you are experiencing fevers/chills or other constitutional symptoms. Stool softeners, tylenol (for analgesia) or ibuprofen are also recommended for treatment. However, since this has been ongoing, a transrectal ultrasound, or CT scan of the low pelvis could also be indicated here, depending on your clinician. Also, if you don't feel as though your doctors have treated you appropriately, you can always go to another doctor.

Thanks!
