No, I'm not in a trial.
I decided on HFU after researching its morbities and considering that I could procede with prostectomy or radiation if needed. I had an American board certified urologist perform the procedure and I'm pleased with the results. I have no erectile dysfunction and no urinary incontinence. My last PSA was 0.3
Regarding the DHEA- well I'm trying to determine why its so high. The HIFU procedure has disturbed my hormanal balance and, well as a person not educated in these matters, I'm trying to make a connection with the cause. The reason that I think the BP is connected to the rise in DHEA is that several years ago when I took DHEA as a suppliment it raiesd my BP- so I stopped taking it.
There is no reason that I can think of that in a period of a few months my BP went from normal to very high. ( 190/90 upon rising in the morning ) Also medications are not working very well. My doc seems to be puzzled.
Hi,
Are you under a clinical trial? Currently focused ultrasound is not considered standard of care as an alternative to prostatectomy/radiation. The same can also be said for DHEA and other hormones undergoing investigation as markers for prostate cancer. The hypertension is not really related to the treatment of the prostate itself. If you are taking any medications for erectile dysfunction, then this may have some effect on blood pressure, but it lowers not increases.
