Thanks for your input. No other symptoms are other discomfort since late Sunday. The tests are over and now I am waiting for results to come next week. I have scheduled an appt for next Thursday with my urologist.
Hi,
The discomfort is more likely from the bowel cleansing procedure. The intestines are a very complex organ - it actually has its own nervous system to function involuntarily so we don't have to sit around and concentrate on digesting food. Part of the consequences of this autonomy is the difficulty interpreting pains associated with irritation.
Thanks for writing. I was hoping to hear from you. After my robotic surgery, my PSA had not dropped from 2.6. A second test after another month yielded no change. I had a bone scan and a CT scan this past Monday in preparation for the ProstaScint scans which start tomorrow. Anything is possible, I suppose. The discomfort seems to have backed off--but with all the bowel cleansing products I am having to consume/use in preparation for tomorrow and Tuesday, it is difficult to determine exactly what I am feeling. After we determine whether or not I still have prostate cancer (and location), I will pay my GP a visit if other symtoms still persist. Thanks for you entries to the many questions we have in this forum.
Hi,
There's very little in the way of adverse events reported with ProstScint.
SInce the test uses a mouse based antibody - most of the adverse events reported are connected with this. There are rare occasions of an allergic reaction leading to drops in blood pressure and difficulty breathing. Most reactions however are mild, and may only be fever and fatigue (similar to the feeling after getting immunized with certain vaccines).
However, if there is pain localized to the pelvis - this doesn't seem to be related. Did you do a bone scan as well? Could it be possible that you have bone disease? HOw high is your PSA anyway? I'm assuming its below 20. Some centers do the ProstaScint in the absence of bone involvement so I am assuming that the bone scans were negative and hence you have no bone disease.
If the discomfort progresses or persists - it may be best to consult about them and get it examined.
