Any idea if this "foreign body" on an X-ray of my foot is serious?

Hi,

I went to get my foot looked at after a bad ankle sprain and the results were unexpected because an anomaly showed up on my x-ray.

Here's the official report:
"Impression - Punctate fragment between the interspace of the distal first and second metatarsals which may represent a foreign body.

Findings - There is normal mineralization and alignment. No fracture or osseous lesion is identified. The joints are normal. There is a punctate ossific fragment between the interspace of the first and second distal metatarsals."

Supposedly they had no prior studies available for comparison but that's explicitly not true because I've had this foot looked at before, about 2.5 years ago. I pulled the images from my medical record and I couldn't see this feature before. I'm curious what the community thinks; I would've posted on figure1 but it's against their policy to post personal health issues. Because I can't attach the images directly here, I've linked them below

My question is: should I investigate this further; is there cause for concern?

I have no idea how it could have gotten there... I wear sperry boat shoes a lot during the summer (sailing for work) and have gotten eczema there in the past, could it be dirt from scratching the superficial rashes?

Unless there is pain between your 1st & 2nd toes, the report from the plain film imaging is of no concern. It is most likely something innate like a small fleck of glass. Of more interest is your metatarsus adductus and how you are managing that.
