Quick head MRI query

Hi,

I wondered if someone would be so kind as to answer the following... when a doctor orders a head MRI, will a radiologist look at the temperomandibular joint as standard/part of their protocol to assess for problems(?) Or only look at the brain/brain stem? Would a doctor need to specifically ask for MRI of the TMJ or does head MRI cover it?

I have a head MRI booked following discussion with my doctor regarding TMJ pain and ear pain (as well as other chronic neurological diagnoses and symptoms). The appointment is booked on my letter for a head MRI and ear MRI but no mention of the TMJ so keen to establish if I need to contact them to discuss this further or whether head MRI encompasses this?

Thank you very much for anyone that can help me with this; it would be much appreciated

TM joint evaluation is not adequately done on an MRI brain, since it requires some sequences, angles & procedures not included in the standard Brain MRI protocol.
