Mine has been persistent for 9 months now, will it likely resolve at some point or persist for the rest of my life?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,
How are you? Geographic tongue is a map-like appearance of the tongue due to irregular patches on its surface caused by possible vitamin B deficiency; irritation from hot or spicy foods, or alcohol which lead s to loss of the tongue papillae. These denuded areas may persist for more than a month. No treatment is usually indicated but antihistamine gel or steroid mouth rinses may help with discomfort. While this condition is a harmless condition, it can be recurrent, persistent and uncomfortable. It is best that you have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation. Take care and regards.
