Neck and Back Pain

I'm female, 32yrs old, I've been experiencing neck and back pain for more than a year now. it comes and goes away. At first i thought it was a stiff neck but the pain would last for months and the doctor gave me some meds which wasnt really helpful. Usually it starts out like a stiff neck and pain on my shouders then after a few days the stiffness goes away but everytime i turn my head to the left or raise my head upward i would feel pain along the right side of my spine. theres also a localized dull pain on my right scapular region.... kinda feels like pain is coming from under my scapula. at times when i wake up in the morning i would feel a slight numbness along the outer sides of both my arms, ring finger and my small finger.... sometimes there would also be slight numbness along the outer side of my legs....this occurs when i sleep straight on my back, if i selpt sideways i dont get this sensation in the morning but because of knee pain i cant sleep sideways at all times...

the doctor said it could be a herniation of the cervical disc since my mother has it and that is is hereditary and only cure for it is surgery which is a last option...

HI...I would suggest u get an MRI and confirm what it is b4 u decide on a treatment.
If u have something else going on the treatment u choose will vary.

Please have ur PCP rx MRI studies of ur cervical spine ans see what it is.

godspeed
