I'm a 34 yr old woman. I seem to suffer from rectal pain, I can be sound a sleep
and I will  be awaken in extreme pain. I can somewhat manage the pain with Ibprofen
at least 5 capsules will reduce the pain.

My bowel movements are normal. However, I have noticed it occurs 4days before the
bowel movement.

Hi,
Thanks for your input DOC!
I was looking up the website web MD. I wasn't to far off with similar diagnoses.

Do you feel I should cut down on the caffiene??? I have about 3 cups in the morning
and occasional coke. However, Do you think it contributes to this problem??

Sincerely,Tina

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
The commonest cause of rectal pain is anal fissure which causes pain whenever rectum is stretched, especially if you have constipated or hard stool. Other causes of rectal pain are infections and inflammatory diseases such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, cancer, foreign bodies in the rectum, rectal prolapse and thrombosed hemorrhoids.

I would recommend you increase fiber and fluids in the diet. Eating the right amount of fiber and drinking six to eight glasses of fluid result in softer, bulkier stools. Good sources of fiber are fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

Hope these tips help. A proper investigation is required preferably by a gastroenterologist (a doctor who looks after the digestive system) to know what is the cause. The treatment will follow correct diagnosis. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Hello,
I usually have bowelmovement every other day. However, I'm not consipated.
There are times even if the bowel movement occurs later on during the night I
will get sharp pains in my rectum.

I agree I should see a Dr. I just don't want them to diagnose it as consipation.lol

Sincerely,Tina

Thanks for you input!
Take care:)

Hello,

You need to visit a doctor at the earliest, if you have bowel movements more than 4 days apart, you are definitely constipated.

Taking 5 capsules of Ibuprofen is not good either. That will give you ulcers. At this point, visit your doctor ASAP.

Regards

How often are you having a bowel movement?  It sounds like you aren't having them very often ie: you are constipated.  (the pain occurs 4 days before) you should have 1 every day, perhaps you need to drink more liquids, eat more fiber? Just a thought, have you asked your doctor?  angelriv
