I am a 62 yo female. I had a heart attack at 47, causing the need for a quad bypass. I have arthritis, hypercholesterolemia (controlled by Crestor, etc.). I take an ACE inhibitor and have slightly elevated blood pressure which is recent and helped by a blood pressure med. My carotid arteries are 70% blocked.
Occasionally, my leg(s) (one or both) ache from deep inside, causing me to wake up in the wee hours. The only way to stop it is getting up.
Sadly, I am a smoker. I also drink beer, but am working my way off of that.
Why is this happening?
Hi,
How are you? Restless legs syndrome (RLS) causes a powerful urge to move your legs. It can also be described as creeping, crawling, tingling or burning sensation. Moving the legs may help provide relief. This can be due to unknown cause, anemia or pregnancy, certain medicines, caffeine, tobacco and alcohol. Regular sleeping habits, relaxation techniques and moderate exercise during the day can help. If it persists, you may need to have this checked by your doctor for proper management. Take care and regards.
Have you looked into or asked your doctor about restless leg syndrome?
