It depends how your body reacts to it. I can't handle hormones and estrogen so when I tried yaz and mirena (the iud) I gained weight. I'm on the progesterone only pill and have lost 25 lbs.

Some people do gain weight, while others do not. If you find yourself gaining weight, bring it to the doctors attention as there are a variety of pills to choose from. But not taking it, will cause a big weight gain and a permanent change in your future plans.

Some women gain weight and others don't. Ask your gyno about getting on a pill with low side effects, as there are many options of which pill you want to use. I haven't gained weight personally, so not everyone will gain weight. Good luck

I personally did not gain weight on the pill - i weigh around 115 pounds and didn't notice any change. As AHP84 said though, some women do. Ask your doc for one that is less likely to do this.

I noticed you are 15 and your  mom is 'putting you on birth control' - just curious, how come? Don't get me wrong - if you are sexually active this is a great idea, I guess I'm just curious, is it because you have a serious boyfriend and your mom is worried you'll get pregnant?

Weight gain is a side effect for some women. You can find out what to expect by looking up the form of birth control you'll be using and reading about it, then asking any questions you have to the doctor who prescribes it to you.
