Does the fact that I can't sleep when my husband plays xbox or talks to people all night mean that I'm Imature?

So I can't sleep when my husband is in our room playing games like Call of Duty all night long, with all the shooting and talking on the mic. He doesn't understand that the sounds of war are not exactly the easiest thing to fall asleep to, neither is him speaking to other people he's playing with. I wouldn't mind if he were playing it in the living room, but we don't have an ethernet cord out there, so he's in here and I hate sleeping on the couch because he's playing video games and losing lots of sleep.

He says that if I was mature I'd be able to sleep while he plays.

Tell me what you think... does not being able to sleep when he's playing xbox make me immature?

Unplug the cord from the back of the machine and hide it after a certain hour! I also like the fart noise idea Julie! That sounds like something I would do, but my husband would also think it was funny and probably join in with me knowing him! Then again, my husband wouldn't be so disrespectful either and I'd put him in his place with a quickness!!!

No you are not being immature whatsoever but your husband is! Put your foot down and show him you mean business!

I would be offended if he called me inmature, when he is the one playing the game in the bedroom being inconsiderate of you. Tell him, it's time for him to grow up and take the game and put it in another room and tell him to keep it down.  Judy

Hey you know what you could do to get the point across, when he falls asleep get out the pots and pans and start crashing and banging and whollping around like a brass band.... play the music like your at a night club, or chat to ur girlfriends in bed on the mobile and speak really LOUD!!! Then when he tells you to shut up and be quiet jump on him and tell him thats exactly how you feel.....  I know two worngs dont make a right but sometimes it can sure make you feel better...:0)

I would ban it in the bedroom after a certain hour. If it means that much to him he will get a hook up in the LR. If not, too bad too sad. No you are not immature. Wish I could say the same about your significant other. lol

Lay the law down!

hahaha penswriter...that's great. the way I get DH off of the computer if he won't stop is to either dump a crying DD on his lap, or if she's asleep I'm like "man all that sex we could have been having...it would have been great. too bad you were on the computer." and when he says "I'll get off the computer right now" I always reply with "oh that's too bad....Because I was so in the mood an hour ago. not so much anymore. I've got gas now." I get so sick of his computer gaming sometimes..especially when he's like "But I just sat down to play!!!" (when I ask him to do something for me or the baby after he's been playing for an hour or two). my response? "too bad, get your *** up."

HAHAHAHA ashleen you think like me! dh was driving me nuts one night playing one of his war games (i'm a fable, fable 2 and soon to be fable 3 player only...i'm lame i know) so i started making inappropriate noises. farting, the "poop" grunt, going "OMG what did you do in the bathroom!!!" and other embarrassing noises. lol. he was REALLY REALLY mad at me...but got the hint. (of course that was after he had been playing for 5 1/2 hours....)

Okay, I only know this because I have older nephews (my boys are still little)-------  Xbox can be played at home with one person and they talk to other people at their houses.  Who knew???  I just learned this over Christmas time and couldn't understand how they do it.  It is like fax machines--------  don't get how they work!!

However, my nephew has rules and limits as to how much he is able to play video games.  Might be a good idea for husband????.......  Just a thought? . . .

if the bathroom was close, I'd just go in there and start flushing away...make some really gross noises...really embarrass DH. or maybe "honey did you pee the bed again last night?? there's a huge wet spot on your side!!!" while he's playing....but see I'm diabolical. I have no problem embarrassing DH and he has no problem embarrassing me, lol.

julie..with xbox live you can't see the other people. you talk through a mic that's hooked to the controller (yes dh and i do have xbox live for when we get the rare moment to play IN THE LIVING ROOM NOT the bedroom). so if she has to get up nobody can see her. just hear. (if the bathroom is close to the bedroom)

I can't believe also that while you are trying to get to sleep in the marital bedroom he has his mates in there as well, what happens when you need to get up and have a toilet break etc.... all his mates get an eyefall, even if you are wearing pyjamas... I think if it was me in this situation i would of wrapped that cord tight around his thraot by now.... sorry!!! Proberly why i anit married...LOL

I make my husband use earphones, and if he wants to talk to people he has to wait until after I'm asleep...because for me it's falling asleep that's the problem. Once I'm asleep the noise rarely bothers me. But if he wakes me up, I tell him "that's it" and he ALWAYS turns it off....

your husband sounds immature and disrespectful, but most of us with husbands who play videogames religiously ARE immature. Which is fine, as long as he's respectful, which your husband is not being.

I would personally tell him "if I'm so immature, why are you the one playing video games at night instead of sleeping like a responsible adult?" HOWEVER I wouldn't advise this..I know my husband and he would think it's funny but i don't know your husband he might get really upset LOL.

anyway I agree with getting him the ethernet cord, or telling him to simply turn it down and clam up until you're asleep. it's perfectly reasonable..it's your bed too!

How much effort or cost would it be to run an ethernet cord in the living room or kitchen?  It's worth looking in to.    Give that to him for Valentines Day - an ethernet cord somewhere else.

the rest are right. he's the one being immature and inconsiderate. my dh used to watch horror movies when i'd fall asleep (i HATE scary movies) but i'm such a light sleeper it would wake me up. then after seeing people being murdered i wouldn't be able to sleep...he would yell at me telling me i'm a "big baby" and to suck it up. when i started sleeping in the spare bedroom he got the hint and stopped watching horror movies in bed. now...he watches fighting movies (steven segal and jean claude van damn things) which don't bother me nearly as much.

he needs to grow up and have respect. put your foot down and tell him to stop. if he doesn't...kick him out of the bedroom.
