Love food? Last good meal you had?

This is a silly question and just for fun.  What's the last really . . . and I mean REALLY good meal you had? What did you eat?  Where were you?  Who was with you?

Well, now I'm dying to eat.  I'm starving.  I want some of what everyone has had.

I made chili yesterday which I haven't had since last winter.  That was a definite yum.

Memorable meals for me:  roasted red pepper ravioli at a New York City pasta place with my sister.  Lordy, that was good.  I'd probably never find the place again but that was memorable.
On my honeymoon trip, we went to a Moroccan restaurant complete with sitting on the floor on pillows and rugs and belly dancing type music.  (my interpretation of it).  I drank a lot of these drinks that were sweet with green leaves in it.  No idea what that was.  OR what I ate. But it was such a different atmosphere and the food was so good.

neither of those were recent.  Hm, so we'll go with the chili from last night.  :>)))

Well mine is going to sound really boring compared to the rest of you!  I put a bread and butter roast in the crock pot with potatoes, carrots and onions Monday morning.  It was delicious!!  You have to remember i eat chicken, fish and green veggies most of the time!!  Hubby and i ate that for 2 days.

I had it with strangers. But a few so called friends were around. Almost a dozen of cuisines with rice mostly lamb meat prepared in so many ways .  It was like a trip. My palette was going through all the directions in the right ways and I was eating on an empty stomach from a short fast.  It was delicious.
But to be honest It did not give the kind of peace and satisfaction I get from eating  home cooked meal cooked by my mom, no matter how simple or tasty it is.
I also love to eat my homegrown canned tomatoes over the winters and pickled chilies, also home grown. yummy. Nothing like a clean organic homemade food earned through the right means and hard work.  And eating is moderation is best.
God bless

l think the last "all around" good meal - that's food, company, etc was about a year ago when my sister and I were out riding around one night and we stopped at a little restaurant in a small town in South Dakota.  They had Northern Pike on the menu, so we both ordered that with the salad bar.  The fish is caught fresh in surrounding lakes and it was huge.  It came on a very hot platter swimming in a light butter sauce.  Of course, we had the usual things from the salad bar and there was a potato with the fish but I only ate a couple bites of that because the fish was huge and I wanted it more than anything else because we don't have that here in Florida.

Along with the freshly caught fish and fresh salad bar, was the time I got to spend with my sister, whom I don't get to see very often.  We had a great time, getting to visit and the meal was one I think of quite often...

Ceviche, yesterday. I ate it by myself.

There is a great local Mexican restaurant, authentic to the point where the owner has to have one of his waiters translate so he can talk to me. I was out at lunchtime while my husband was working at home in his office. I thought of going to Subway and bringing home a sandwich for us both, but just couldn't quite face it. Then bethought me of the Mexican restaurant. I called them from the car, ordered ceviche for me and a large sopa for him (they have great soups), and ran my errands. Picked up iced tea at McDonald's,  picked up the huge Mexican meal at the restaurant (this was not cheap, but worth it) and surprised my husband with the soup that he could eat between phone appointments with clients. We both ate until we were stuffed, and I've got a dentist appointment today where I'll have to apologize for the residual onion smell on my breath, but it was just really, really good. They make their ceviche with shrimp (often it's made with fish instead), and along with the usual onions and tomatoes and cilantro and spices, they gave me cut-up avocado and chips. Best lunch ever. I was super tummy-happy all afternoon and evening.

I've never had that, but it sounds wonderful...
It's easy to make, and a good hot-weather dish, just the same way as chilled gazpacho soup is. Sometimes cold dishes are just great in the heat.

The cool thing is, the fish (or shrimp) is 'cooked' by cutting limes and soaking it in lime juice. It causes a chemical change in the fish and it is officially cooked, and it tastes great. Lime and chili and onion, with veggies (we always also put celery bits and cucumber chunks in along with the tomatoes) and it's just a wonderful summer lunch. Or any season!
