Missing iguana

I have let my iguana free roam outside and he usually sticks around the front yard and walks to the tree in the back yard. Now he is not around and i cant find him. It is getting colder out so i want to find him i just dont know where he would be. Will iguanas dig in the ground to escape the cold and will he stick around my house? i need to find him im worried about him.

well..thats too bad....untill i had alot of lizards i didn't really know much...i made mistakes... i only have a couple of diamond pythons now...heres a story....about 4 years ago i came home and went into check out my lizards and snakes...i had them in a double garage ..all were in large walk in cages...the temp outside was well below freezing.(i had been gone for two days)..on the floor in a back section the temp was cold...like maybe 35 or 40.(cage temps were 65 to 100 at basking site.).as i walked into the garage i noticed one of my blackthroat monitors had gotten out of its cage.i must have left the door open..it was about 30 pounds..i had it since it was a baby...i looked all over the place and found it under the cages on the cold floor...i pulled it out with my son and we held it..it was so dead..not stiff at all ...i put it up on top of a smaller cage..i fed all the reps and left for a couple hours..came back to get the blackthroat and clean a cage..i was really sad..then my friend that came back with me said she saw my blackthroats eye lid move...i went right next to it and had my eye about two inches from his and the eye lid moved...it really freaked me out cause i was sure it was dead...anyway it took about a day to come all the way back...live and learn...back in the early seventies we knew even less.i used to give my snakes tetracycline when they got sick..many times i could have just heated them up and kept them at a warm temp ....now with the internet its so easy to get help...never be afraid to ask questions..billy

thxs for the advice but i have found him in my backyard really cold and wasnt moving. I took to a good friend who owned lots reptiles and said he was in a hybernating state. I could tell he was still alive his eyes were half open and every now and then he would move. I checked his heartbeat and there was a steady beat. but then out of nowwhere his eyes closed and hid eyelids sunk in. I feel really bad. do you know anything about hibernating state of a iguana if so was it normal for his eyelids to sink in or did that mean he was dead. i ended up burying him in my backyard because he seemed deadlike to me and my friend. Im really sad!
