1 cm suspicious lung lesion

I had a scan in oct 2012 that shows I have advanced emphysema and thickening in the plural and parenchymal along with small non calcified lung nodules. My pulmonologist wanted to wait 6 months to rescan. I talked about my concerns with my primary and he agreed to rescan me last week. Now I have a 1 cm lung nodule that the radiologist has reported as a suspicious lesion and that's all it says. I have already been scheduled for a lung biopsy tomorrow morning. So within 3 days of results I am having a biopsy done. Anyone think it's cancer? Cause that's what I'm gathering why it's being done so quickly....and I'm panicking.

It is a very rare circumstance for an urgent biopsy of a one cm nodule, said to not be present 3 months ago.  You would be wise to confirm with your pulmonologist what the radiologist means by “suspicious”, if he/she (the pulmonologist) agrees, and if the radiologist who reported the nodule to be suspicious had access to both CT Scans for side by side comparison.  I would recommend that you not agree to a biopsy until you have had a chance to speak with your pulmonologist (assuming the biopsy is to be performed by a 3rd party.)

Good luck

I'm sorry it was oct 2013 not 2012. The new lesion has developed within a 3 month time
