After reading most of the questions..I am depressed thinking there is no
cure for Horseness and coughing...At the present time, I have been
on all different meds...Nothing helps!! A friend of mine told me to
put vicks on my feet and put socks on before going to bed and it
has helped my coughing a little...Presently I am on Avelox for an
URI plus all my other meds...I have to keep away from milk and
dairy products, spicy foods, cigarette smoke, and the cold air
and Hot air...also if its windy...I get coughing again with mucous
(Its yellow)...I've also been to an ENT Dr...plus my lung has
collapsed 3 times...I am due to go to a specialized hosp fot
my lungs for a pet scan...something showed up on my cat scan.
I have to cancel the appointment because of my condition and
wait till I am a little better...I also heard that breathing in hot
steam is good.....it gives a little relief...Hope you all feel better
soon and they find a cure for this...
The critical element in controlling the cough is making the diagnosis of the cause. Coughing can come from several different upper and lower airway causes. A systematic approach to this problem by a doctor is the best approach. It is essential to look at infections, allergy, non-infectious inflammation of the sinuses, upper airways, and lungs. Getting the PET scan is the next step in this process looking at whatever was found on the CT scan. If this is causing as much of a problem as you are suggesting, it might be worthwhile to visit National Jewish Medical and Research Center in Denver which specializes in diagnosis and treatment of these problems.
