Swelling

I have experienced swelling in my throat, mouth, lips and eyes. Twice, while the above was happening, my tummy area felt like it had alot of pressure, with noticeable swelling.  While swelling is occuring, my legs, behind the knees, feel numb, kind of like they are asleep. I have been given an epi pen to help stop some swelling, but no diagnosis. It is terrifying so please assist in discovering cause. I have had allergy testing and seem to have reactions to herbicides, pesticides etc... I just want it to stop.

It is certainly understandable to be terrified by these symptoms.  While allergy can be one of the causes of such symptoms, it is not the most common cause.  If you were spraying herbicides or pesticides and had these symptoms, it is possible they were a cause, but otherwise it is highly unlikely.  The most common diagnosis is called idiopathic angioedema.  This means unknown swelling of the blood vessels.  It is a fairly common occurrence.  Some possible causes are hormonal changes, stress, major loss or gain in weight.  The best recommendation is to work with a board certified allergist or dermatologist.  Either of these specialists would be able to determine if there is a treatable cause and give you medicines to have available to treat the symptoms.
