Bad Odour from nose

i'm hope someone can help?for over 6 years i've had a constant bad smell coming from my nose, i don't think anyone else can smell it but me, as i've asked colleagues/friend if they noticed anything, and they've all said no, this has been really getting me down and has really had a bad effect on my quality of life.  Around the time it started i was having terrible problems with a back upper right tooth, it was rotting and eventually blood was coming from it, i went to the dentist and got the tooth extracted by whilst removing the tooth,the dentist left part of a the tooths root in my gum as it broke off, he said not to worry about it and it would be ok left in my gum, it remained there for the last 6 years although my gum did swell up now and again around it, which i just ignored, eventually after my gum swelling up bigger than usual, i got it removed in December 2006, i was hoping this might have cured my sinus problems but there has been no change as of yet, could this infected root be the cause of my sinus problems?

My symptoms are metal taste in my mouth, constant bad odour from my nose, can't smell anything else as a result, blocked nose frequently, the smell can get worse when eating too, and with changes in the weather, fatigue, facial fullness around my cheeks, and i also had glue ear

For the last year i've used Sudafed decongestant it helped a little now and again with the odour but its still there, after reading prev posts on here i've started using a Sea Water spray for 2  and it appear to be working better, but has cleared up the problem, please help!!!!

I too have had the same odor in my nose and for close to 5 years, I have seen ent after ent and nothing worked. One ent flushed out my nasal cavity after scoping it and it was good for a couple of months. I thought it was caused by smoking, no that I am almost stopped smoking I still have the odor.

It is a nasty odor and can make you go crazy at times.

The smell is an infection like smell, the same odor when you have a cold with green mucous.

i beeing like this for about 5 years  it so bad that i had to leave the school , evry day i wash my mouth very well   i beein to the doctor they already removed my tonsils but it didn't help nothing ,it is the worst nighmare tha i am living  because evry time  i wash my mouth  with paste  and  go out to somewhere  evry body starts like coghing a lot sneezing o it is so horrible even  if they are not  close to me ,  also when  i drink more  then one glass of wter it happens too  people star to cogh  and sneeze a lot , the air   coming out from my nose  feels veri hot    and it ges my nose congested   and as it happens i gets worse  so i dont like going anywhere  because of it   some time i justdon't wanna live any more  i feel so bad  and  am willing to do any thing to get rid of this problem  .

the worse thing is that every where i go people star like holding theyr breath or touching theyr nose  because of me

Thanks everyone for all your comments, i'll just have to wait and see what the CT scan reveals, if anything, but i'll be sure to let you all know if i get my problem resolved, if not i'll be back on looking for more help haha.

i have the same problem, its been going on for six months.  i have seen the doctor and took all the medicine but nothing worked, i need a cure fast.  im 17 and still in high school and kids are brutal.  this turned me into a hermit.  the smell is so strong that i stink up the whole class...please help me

It is certainly possible that you have a chronic infection somewhere that is causing much, if not all, of what you describe.  Dental x-rays and a CT of the sinuses are good tests to look for the source. I would speak to your physician about these tests.

i've also been to see an ENT consultant, they stuck a scope up my nose but said he could see any problems, he's arranging a CT scan but as i live in the UK i'll have to wait a few months before i get that

I have had a horrible odor inside my nostril since August 2006.  I had a continous MRSA infection during that time, but even on Vanco the horrible odor reamined, now I have been diagnosed with mold/fungal infection, and since starting the antifungal irrigations, the odor seems to have finally gone, so I think that I have had the fungal infection since August, and my ENT wwas incapable of doing a proper endoscopic exam (I was previously using an antibiotic irrigation from the ENT who couldnt identify the fungal infection , despite the fact that I had stringy white and clear sticky mucous post nasal drainage).
