Connection between heart surgery and pulmonary fibrosis

My friend had open heart surgery 3 weeks ago to have the aortic valve replaced and 2 stents.  She is 88 years old.
Now she has severe shortness of breath.  Is there a connection between the heart surgery and pulmonary fibrosis?
She recovered well from the surgery, chest tubes removed in 3 days.  Home in 6 days.

Husband was told he has scaring of the lungs right after having opening heart surgery. He had had a chest ex-ray before and wasn't never told he had this disease. Could this have happened from the open heart surgrey procedure. I am baffled. He passed away 2 years ago and with an open lunch biopsy was told don't know what caused the scarring of his lungs. Please advise. Do I need to hire an attorney to look into this.
