Constant need to take deep Breath/ Constant yawing and sighing

Hi,im a 24 year old male and i've been dealing with this constant shortness of breath for over 8 years now. . Its hard to say but doctors have no idea what's wrong with me.I see so mnay people dealing with this problem and it seems like theres no diagnosis. It just strated outta the blue I went to take a deep breath and i couldnt get that last bit of hair to satisfy the breath and this whole vicious cycle started. After that for about 2 years i was constantly taking deep breaths and not able to get a satisfied breath. I WAS CONSTANTLY YAWNING>SIGNING AND TAKIN UNSATISFIED DEEP BREATH ALL DAY LONG. I had reached the point when i was staying home in my bed just hoping i would die so it would stop.  After 2 years or so it seemed to just go away. It then came back right after i smoked a cigarette . Ever since then its been an ongoing struggle. I feel as if i have no control of my life, and im constantly thinking of my breathing. I feel hopeless and feel as if no one understands what im going through or that i have this disease that doctors cant detect. My doctor has put me on xanax for anxiety and it seemed to cut the edge off a lil but its still there. Its not as bad as when i first got it but it still disrupts my life. I cant work, goto school  and i don't have much of a happy life .I've gone to cardiologist, ent's, gi's, pulmonary doctors. I've gone through xrays, PFT, EKG, stress tests, endoscopy . Only thing i have is GERD/LPR with sinsation of lump in throat and a very small irregular heart beat. I also am constantly clearing my throat.I heard that can be because of the Gerd/LPR. I just took a new PFT test and my breathing is normal. i did have a deviated septum but got that fixed..My lung specialist says its just all in my head and that i have this because ive become aware of my breathing pattern. i've used advair, singular and breathing pumps for asthma with no results. when im sitting or laying down its seems to be fine but when i stand up or move it kicks in more. I'm losing hope on what's going on with me. Does anyone have this?If so can anyone recommend anything else i should look for?nyone heard of chronic hyperventilation syndrome? anyone can be of help please email me or post a message

I have been told that this can be from a parasite in the lungs. I saw a Natruopath. Pulminologist   and Cardiologist aren't any help. Seen them and Infectious Disease several times. Smoking is only going to make this worse.

I have recently started to experience the same thing, and I'm glad I'm not alone by the looks of it!
At first I thought it may be because I was tired and working too much as I do nightshifts, but it carried on. It stopped for quite a while and then started again. When I don't think about my breathing I'm fine, but as soon as I focus on it or think about it, I have trouble and I'm forever trying to yawn. I was given a salbutamol inhaler by my GP and that works every so often, but not all the time.
I just want it to stop! sometimes I feel like I;m hyperventalating. I think another trip to the Dr's is a must! I've never suffered from anxiety and none of my family do either (I don't think it has anything to do with it but you never know.) Very strange...

I have the same thing, for 6 months every day, sometimes it's better sometimes worse, only when sleep seems to stop.
I am 21 years old,do not smoke,I practiced bodybuilding until to develop the issues.
Is very annoying ,because I hold you in place can not do anything without thinking about your breath.Like you I did x-rays, EKG, PFT, test for allergies and nothing.

I wish to breathe like a baby:))

I hope I can be a help to any person out there going through breathing problems..........

Since writing my testimony, I have found that polysorbate 80, worsens my breathing, but I have also stumbled across some additional infomation which has helped me tremendously.  I stumbled on a womans testimony regarding Chlamydia Pneumoniae, which also leads to breathing problems. (Do some research of your own and see for yourself)  After some research some sites say that only 1 year of antibiotics is the only cure.  I highly believe in working with natural herbs and remedies, and found out that 4 cloves of garlic is considered a STRONG dose of antibiotics.  My husband has me on several garlic pills per day, and colloidal silver, and my breathing has gone back to normal.  AMEN.  I will continue this regeme for several months to a year, after reading the site listed below.

After giving up everything to do with cream and dairy in general my breathing got better, but not great.  I went to prayer, and felt Jesus dropping something in my bucket

I am not suggesting that this is a cure, but what I am taking is all natural and will not hurt my body.  If you do any investigation on garlic it increases your immune system.  In addition my husband has me taking Oil of Oregano, Olive Leaf extract.  Do some research on these two herbs in particular, and you will see they are miracle workers.  In addition he has me taking Garlic pills, Astragalus, Cats Claw, Respir ALL by Now, and Echinecea.  I feel so much better.

I also wanted to include a link for research......

After reading, when you first start taking antibiotics, it in fact gets worse.

The first night my husband had me on the garlic, it did get worse for one night, and after that it got better.  They call it the dye off of the "virus" ?? in the cells.  I think with prayer (and standing on healing scripture), and these natural remedies, it will only improve my body than taking antibiotics.

Here is my testimony.....

I have been pretty healthy through out my life.  I remember one day being sick throughout school, and possibly that is because my parents didn't allow us to stay home from school.  I am not overweight, I don't smoke, and I have a glass of wine every 2 months.  Both my husband and I try to eat as healthy and organic as possible.  With that said, we are not afraid of having a pizza every once in a while.  I have two major scares in my life, one being a couple years back working the night shift.  I ended up running late one week, so I decided to drink my nightly  coffee at work instead of bring in my own to start my shift.  It became a habit for about two weeks, and during that time I used splenda and the powered cream.  For that week or so, I felt noticeably different through my shift.  Something was defiantly wrong because my vision was very blurry, spotted, and dark in areas and there was nothing I could do to get rid of the problems.  I washed my face with water, I drank extra water but nothing seemed to help.  I was so frustrated because having spotted vision was becoming hazardous to my driving, and my work itself, but it also made me feel sick through out the night.  It seemed as though I was seeing spots, as well as experiencing tunnel vision.  I couldn't see well, and because of that I was very clumsy, often using my hands to guide me around work.  I was dating Michael, and I believe at that time he had helped me over the phone figuring out what the symptoms could be.  We finally figured it to be splenda which I didn't know was toxic, and especially when heated. After I quit using splenda, a couple days later I felt a lot better, and my vision returned.  After experiencing that, I cannot even imagine the problems it causes children as it is in so many candies and multi-vitiams.  After this experience we check all the labels for aspartame.

I don't really pay attention to a lot of labels on food, because I think we eat pretty healthy.  There are so many chemicals out there in foods, but like other people I never noticed a difference in my health before so I thought I was doing ok.   My parents came down to visit us, and before their visit I was painting a bunch of furniture.  I spray furniture with a paint sprayer, and use facial protection, so when my problems began we both assumed that the paint was the problem.  The next day we were touring some underground attractions in the city we live in, and my body felt as though it was gasping for air.  I know no one else had any problems except me.  It was very humid, as we surfaced, my mother had really guided me through breathing using my nose than my mouth, because my body was going into panic.  I think back and I am so glad she suggested it, because I felt alarmed and it calmed me down.  I had never been in a situation were I felt as though there was very limited air available, and as much as I took in a deep breath after deep breath, I just couldn't get any oxygen.  When we got outside, my mother calmed me down again telling me to breath through my nose.  We went through another underground tour, my body coped with this by constantly yawning which forced air into my lungs.  It tapered off through out the day.  After they left from their trip, my breathing got much better, but the problems returned again after two weeks.    My problems began again, and I felt as though my breathing was extremely labored.  I constantly had to yawn through out the day in order to catch a satisfying breath.  I felt as though at some times where I was breathing normally, and other times, where I had to get up from my desk, pace around and go outside into the cold air to catch my breath.  My husband did the internet searching for me for some natural remedies, because I felt reading anything about it would put my body into panic.  He found that sniffing honey into my lungs, or drinking distilled apple cider vinegar helped, so that is what I did for 2 weeks straight.  It helped tremendously.  One day, my breathing was really labored, gasping in deep breaths, but not getting any oxygen I had enough.  I was about to cry.  I felt as though I dived to a bottom of  the deep end of the pool, and I was almost out of air on my way up.  My body felt in constant state of panic.  What could I do?  My husband was very worried, and I am so thankful he was walking around with me on those occasions, as I felt so tired and ready to collapse from being dizzy, and feeling rather tingly.  We got into the car, and I was almost ready to pass out.  We had the windows rolled down to give me the feeling of lots of oxygen, but I couldn't take any in.  He was able to buy some over the counter inhalers, and after trying one, I felt worse.  The situation tapered off.

The next episode, I had enough.  I was feeling dizzy again, and he prayed over me, asking God to allow me to breath normally.  I felt better, and we went on to the internet for some answers.  We read through some testimonies of other people feeling the same symptoms.  We assumed it was from the painting, but after reading the suggestions we went right for our fridge, looking into everything that could possibly add to the problem.  It was only then Thankfully that we found it was from the QFC whipping cream I had been using in my coffee.  We normally don't buy whipping cream, but since my parents visit, we bought some for some desserts, and since then, I had used it in my coffee instead of half and half.  Pinning my last episode, I had a coffee in the morning, and a couple teas through the afternoon and into the evening.  After realizing it was the polysorbate 80, I was furious of what I had to go through but relieved to find out what was causing the problem.  Sadly, when you cannot breath, it is one of the most uncomfortable situations, and it deeply saddens my heart to know other people may have the same sort of reactions to this chemical.

Thank you for sharing. Splenda is actually not aspertame but is just as bad. I have the same visual migraine symptoms from Splenda. It can be labeled as Sucrolose or sometimes sugar alcohols. Many things are using it for added sweetness. If it says "Reduced Calories" in it read the label. Most gum includes Aspartame.
The air hunger I have is infrequent but I have seen many posts by natural doctors that say this is a parasite infection.
I have been diagnosed by a Naturopath  with Lyme disease and other what they call Co-infections. I use a Parafree softgel. These are produced by Young Living and were developed by the Founder of YL because he had a deathly systemic parasite.  I also take other anti parasite  and antimicrobial natural things. I have been on antibiotics for 10 months and my joint pain is improved but my gut is in need of some help. Antibiotics cause problems with the Microbiome as you probably know.
I have gasping spells  about once a day and pain when I breath  all the time. I and by doctor agree that this is Condochodritis which is inflammation of the tissues holding the rib cage together.  The antibiotics have helped  a lot but I still have daily pain.
Some people like myself don't tolerate things like fumes or mold exposure but I believe there is an underlying infection that causing the body to reach a tipping point where symptoms occur. I have been Gluten Free for over 3 years and that make a huge difference for some of my symptoms. I have recently gone to an Autoimmune Diet called AIP because I have developed Lupus over the years. I pray that all the anti-parasite treatments will control the Lupus symptoms and eventually cure it. I pray for wisdom and understanding in my journey and I will pray for yours!

Has anyone realized that this post has been re-posted again and again, word for word? The only change between these posts is the posters age.

I have this problem as well. I'm so terrified that I might have something more severe, considering I am a smoker. Nothing really seems to help, no matter how long I try the newest self-help system, no matter how much I focus on not focusing on my breathing, no matter what. I'm 22 years old and have been dealing with this for almost two years. My question (one among the many) is this: can the feelings caused by hyperventilation syndrome CHANGE? At this moment, I feel completely different when I breathe than when the SoB first started in January of last year. The basic feelings are there: SoB, light-headedness, etc., etc., but the overall FEEL is completely different, if that makes any sense.

If anyone wants to e-mail me, please do not hesitate to do so at: demon wolf _ 87 [at] yahoo . com (without the spaces, of course).

Its so amazing to see and read how many people are going throught this. Ive lost all sense of what life is. I cant work, I cant have a relationship, i hardly ever go out. Doctors say its anxiety, but my meds dont help. Ive had every test you could imagine. I totally understand what ur going through and your not alone. Have u had a ct scan or mri and pft test?
Im going for an MRI next week, so i will see how that goes. After that im going to see a neurologist who specializes in nuero muscle problems to see if my phrenic nerve is working properly so that could be an option to check for. The phrenic nerve controls the diaphragm which controls how we breath. If the phrenioc nerve is not working or compressed by something it can cause us not to breath normally, and not expand the chest to max capacity. When this happens for a long time, all our intercostal muscles and muscles of the lungs contrict.  Another thing i would tell you to check for is Vocal cord dysfuction. Go to an ENT who specializes in vocal cord disorders.THis is something t i still need to check for also. If you have GERD acid reflux, that can cause VCD which paralysis your vocal cords and air doesnt travel normally to your lungs.
So im on the same road as you. So i would urge you to eliminate one thing at a time. Starting from your heart, lungs, to anxiety, to any organ problems, and most importantly VCD, and PHRENIC nerve damage. Tests for VCD is done with a scope and only a specialist in this area would be able to utilize this and diagnose this, With phrenic nerve damage, MRI, a fluoroscopy of chest with contract, and most important to diagnose would be electrodiagnosis which can only be done by a neurologist. So these are my recommendation to you and keep me posted. Your not alone.

I'm a 23 year old female and I'm experiencing the same thing myself. Have scheduled a physical for the 28th. It's really irritating and annoying. I try not to focus too much on it but it feels impossible. I yawn all the time because it helps me catch my breath. I've experienced this before too and it went away but now it has recently come back. Sometimes I think it might be in my head but other people have noticed my inability to breath normal too. It's hard to breath and eat at the same time. I am of normal weight, I don't smoke, so this is really odd to me. I HATE IT. Am googling for help at work because I can't take it anymore. : (
