Certainly difficulty breathing for several hours every morning is a sign that there is a problem, especially in a 26-year-old. You will need to have a thorough exam by a doctor to find out the nature of the problem. This should include a chest x-ray. If your chest x-ray is clear, you will need to have further testing done to know for sure if this is due to a lung problem. Generally testing for a lung problem starts with a simple breathing test called spirometry. This test provides detailed information about how your lungs are working.
some allergies are worse in the early AM, and for this reason asthma is common during the night. That is not to say that you have allergies, I don't know. Also consider the possibility of a hiatal hernia. During the day gravity can have an effect on the position of the stomach in a way that lying down through the course of the night may reverse. There are some ways you can try to push down the contents of your gut which I suggest you look up on the net and try in the morning to see if it helps. If it does you may want to see a specialist. I don't have any other ideas. not a dr.
