There are several reasons for pain when you take a breath. This could be inflammation of the muscles, the lining of the lungs, the joints where the ribs come together and the nerves under each rib. If this is a problem, a thorough examination by your doctor should be able to discover the exact reason.
Hi, im 16 male and I recently took a fall to the back during this wrestling season for high school. I cracked some cartalage in the middle of my chest right above the stirnum(spelling). Every breath I took was painful. Also a friend of mine pulled a back muscle and that caused pain during breathing for awhile.
