Excess Mucus and Phlegm

My husband has a cronic problem of excess mucus in his throat.  He frequently has to cough to relieve the problem.  He has seen his primary care physician,  an ENT, and a gastroenterologist.   He has had allergy tests, and an upper GI.    He is currently taking antihistimines and Prilosec.  Nothing has helped.   Does anyone have any other ideas?

I have had this problem since I stopped smoking 6 years ago.  I have to constantly clear my throat.  I thought it would get better in time but it doesn't seem to seem to improve at all.  If anyone finds a remedy I would be really interested to hear of it.

Hi,
I have the same problem as your husband. Could you tell me if he finally find a solution?

I too have an excess of mucus all the time. I'm always coughing up phlem and it seems it's all year even when I'm not sick. My mom doesn't think there is anything wrong with it, but I think I sould have it checked upt. It's more of a nuisance than anything, especially when exercising and worsens after I drink dairy products. If you've learned anything do you think you can fill me in too?
