Heart beat awareness

Just a couple of days ago I went to the emergency room because I could see my heart beat from my chest after working out they said I was just dehydrated but now Im aware of my heart beat almost all the time I've found out it might be palpitation but I'm not sure I'm only 15 by the way

Hello and hope you are doing well.

If they have done an EKG and if it was normal, then a cardiac cause for the palpitations may have been ruled out. Hyperthyroidism and anemia too can cause palpitations. Anxiety is known to cause palpitations and sweating. So, don't worry and discuss these options with your doctor. In the meantime, practice relaxation techniques like yoga and meditation and avoid becoming overanxious.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Awareness of your heartbeat is termed as palpitation and it can be due to hyperthyroidism( overactive thyroid), arrhythmias (altered electrical system of the heart), certain medications, heart failure, anemia and low blood sugar. It can be aggravated by exercise, fever, excessive alcohol consumption, smoking and dehydration. Anxiety, fear or stress can cause palpitations. You should consult your primary care physician for therapy. He will examine you and may ask for blood tests and an EKG.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
