Mild Lung Obstruction with strange breathing sounds

For about 10 months now I've been experiencing some dyspnea.  I have had many, many tests including PFTs (which show mild lung obstruction), methocholine challenge, ct scans of lung/chest, sinus scans and echo and electro cardiograms (all scans were negative).  I have been put on about 3 or 4 different asthma medications and none of them have improved the PFT results.  My main symptoms are shortness of breath which strangely improves while lying down.  On the left side of my chest while lying down (and especially when I wake up in the morning) a deep noise (not a wheeze) can be heard from the left side of my chest almost like a balloon at the end when it you let all the air out when I breathe in deeply almost like a gurgling (near the end of the breath) also my cough is dry but on the left side of my chest it feels like a deeper (and more productive) cough is eminating from the same area where my breathing seems loud.  Since this has been going on for so long now my pulminologist is probably going to have me get a bronchoscopy done to look around and see if there's anything obstructing my airway that has not shown up on scans.  My question is does any of this sound like anything to put your finger on?  I imagine if there was something dramatically wrong with the left side of my chest it would show up in one or more of chest x-rays, CT scans (with and without contrast), etc, but the noise is worrysome (as well as the unimproving PFT's).  Could it perhaps just be an accumulation of mucus that moves around when I lie down (and where the noisy cough may eminate from) and why it is louder in the morning (from accumulation or post nasal drip)?  I'm not sure if that could cause all the poor PFT's ( I have had an ENT check me and she could not find anything other than a deviated sceptum (I had a CT of the sinuses done).  Like I said my next step is the bronchoscopy I suppose but I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas?

hi

have you ever been to a sleep clininc they test how you sleep during the night. I have a condition called sleep apneo and I have the same symptoms as you. I sometimes feel as though someone is blowing the air out of my chest. all so a sort of snoring from my chest sounds strange. might be an idea to be tested for sleep apneo ask your doctor to refer you to sleep clinic good luck Heather
