Opinion Requested

Hello everybody-I know that you can't get a diagnosis of a problem on these boards-but I guess what I'm hoping for is a little reassurance.  Six months ago my mother was in a car accident and during a routine body x-ray it was discovered that she had 4 nodules in her left lung and one in her right lung. The lone nodule was very small, and the ones on her left lung were only millimeters big.
As is common when nodules were found, she went back to have a CAT scan 6 months later and the one lone nodule seems to have disappeared.  However, in her left lung one of the nodules has grown to half an inch.  The others are bigger too.  They scheduled a PET scan for her on Dec. 22nd and we are all doing our best to assure her that there is a very small chance that this is anything serious.  The doctors are concerned with the growth of the nodules on her left lung of course. She is 59 and hasnt smoked for 20 years-should we be very concerned?
Any opinions or personal experiences with this situation would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for that-I'm glad yours turned out to be nothing.  We really only hear the horror stories about what it could be, so that helps.
You said you joined out of desparation?  If there is something else wrong, I really hope you get good news for Christmas as well.
