Pulmanary Embolism

My mother recently had a pulmanary embolism in her lungs. Usually this will kill someone in a matter of minutes, but because of my mom's strength to live and excelent mediction she is still with us.

What saved her life was this medication called TPA. It dissolves the clots teh in her lungs. What are the side effects of this drug? Can there be complications due to this drug?

HI there.  Glad to hear your mom is doing well.  However, something you said touched me the wrong way.  Stating that people "usually die" from pulmonary embolism is not in fact true.  When a PE is "massive" it can cause sudden death.  However, when a PE develops and is treated, they are highly curable.  The reason I know this is because I had PE's last August with no PE symptoms other than feeling odd.  A Dr. finally checked just in case and found them.  There are some great websites out there that will show how many PE survivors there really are.
