Here's a simple thing to try that could help. After weeks of searching and trying various methods I read somewhere that some doctors think a potassium deficiency could be related to post nasal drip. I started eating one banana or kiwi per day plus took one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar per day. After a few days I felt much better. I wasn't completely cured (probably because I also have a deviated septum) but I felt much better and had much less drip and sore throat problems.
Hi all, thought this might help alittle. Last year i moved from a small town to a sydney, i could tell the air was much worse. I suffered with chronic post nasil drip, hocking and grunting to clear my throat all day, it drove me crazy, i went to a specialist and our conclusion was to cut out all types of foods. Today i am on basically a vegan diet, no dairy no meat, and my post nasil drip is so much better. Diary flares it up so bad, so i know to stay clear of that. Now most of you probably know this, but severe post nasil drip most likely leads to tonsil stones. Which i have. So now the problem was the tonsil stones, which are horrible things to have! Having tonsil stones can cause frequent tonsilitis, so im currently waiting to have my tonsils and adnoids removed in October. Now from having severe dust mite allergies, i have chronic sinusitis. My nose drains like a water pipe all day long. Now after all that, i have recently been diagnosed with allergic asthma. The point to all this is, once i got the diagnosis of asthma, it all made sense to me. Asthma syptoms are coughing without any given reason, having the need to clear your throat, flared up sinuses and of course breathing problems (which i always thought was because of the post nasil drip). Maybe go get checked for asthma, because now that i am on ventolin and being properly treated i dont really get my post nasil drip anymore, unless i have a asthma attack. Doctors dont really do anything about post nasil drip, and i have search the interenet more then you could imagine for a cure, but nothing works. Good luck!
Have had post nasal drip as long as I can remember...back to HS. Over the years it has gotten worse and worse. Went thru the usual tests with the EN&T specialist with no success. He had me try a nasal steroid spray and Mucinex combined which worked like a miracle for 3 days, then my body just went right back to the old constant drip. Has anyone noticed if after you have anything sweet, whether real sugar or substitute that it worsens. I have noticed that if I have a piece of chocolate or even a diet soda, it aggravates it. Just curious if anyone else has this. Also, back in 2001, I had the flu for the first time in my life. With the flu came a really bad sinus infection which I had never had before. Since then, I have had approx. 2 sinus infections a year and it seems that my drip has become worse and worse each year. I'm ready for a nose transplant ; ) I did find that Sudafed D worked wonders for me, however I have an arythmia and found that I cannot take this product because it makes my heart race. This may be a good product for some of you to give a try.
I heared omega 3 fatty acids are good for allergies. If allergies is your problem, try feasting on fish.
