Sinusitis triggers?

Hey y'all, I'm prone to getting acute and chronic sinusitis about 2-3 times a year. I'm never sure what really triggers it. Is it due to the tail end of a cold or due to allergies? Is it just an immune response? Any suggestions?

I am always put on a Z-Pack and/or Prednisone to help me out, and it usually becomes better after a week or so ..

I do have a NetiPot and it works great! I'm not sure about the steroids, I've only been put on them once so that they could loosen my air passages (I was only on it for 5 days, 20mg x2 a day). So, I'm not sure. Usually Z-Packs do the trick, and that's an antibiotic.

I was sent to a ear specialist as my right ear hurt so bad - found out it was my sinuses putting pressure on my ear drum  - was put on an old rx of drixoral  but could literally feel my sinuses shrink - I keep Halls cough drops in my pocket - during the summer I use flonase - but lately have just been using a saline drop - since I was in hospital with pneumonia I have a humidifier - Dr Oz showed the Neti?? pot - where literally you rinse out your nose - I have friends who have resorted to that - and all are more then pleased -I am curious as to what effect steroids would have on your sinuses tho -
