Spot found on chest xray

I am 33 and had been sick with an ear infection and terrible cold for several weeks. I finally went to the Dr and got an antibiotic. Two weeks later I went back to the same Dr and for a physical and he wanted me to have a chest xray. I got a call the next day from the nurse saying that they saw a spot on the x ray and I need to have a CT scan. Could this "spot" be reminents of a chest cold or do they suspect more? I couln't get any info from the nurse. She just said it could be a large vessel. My mom was diagnosed with lung cancer 2 1/2 years ago, but she was a smoker and I am not. What all could this spot possibly be? I am freaking out; I won't know anything for a week. Thanks.

I have been having back pain for about a month, after seeing a dr. they ordered an x-ray & found something. It says it is a small nodular density overlying the medial portion of the posterior fifth rib right rib cage.--I go for a CT on Monday, what will I be looking for on the CT?  Should I be concerned, obviously I am or I wouldn't be asking.  Thanks

Last year I went to a Pulminoligist for breathing issues. They did a chest X Ray and they found an area in my lungs called atelectasis. They sent me for a CT. The Ct showed that the atelectasis was gone but reavealed a 5mm spot. 3 months later on the follow up CT the 5mm spot was gone but they found a 3mm spot that was in fact on the first CT but overlooked. Well after another 3 months they do another CT scan and the 3mm spot is still there but it hasn't changed, stable for 6 months. Most cancers will double in size in less then 6 months. So now I get 2 more CT scans and if there is no change then I'm good and it was just a benign lesion. Just like you I was scared to death but now it looks like everything should be fine. Also I have read that the huge majority of spots that show up on chest ct's that are under 1cm are benign. God Bless.

This is clearly a very frightening situation for you.  This could be related to many things from the infection to things that are more serious.  Unfortunately, you will have to wait until the CT is performed and the results interpreted to get more  information.  That will seem like a very long time.
