Surgery with OAD and ICU?

i went to my pulmy the other day and she told me i have  OAD (Obstructive Airway Disorder) i have to see an orthoepdic Dr next week for my knee,my pulmy said that if have to have surgery she said that she wants to take the Dr and anesthesiologist and she wants me to be left intubated and put in ICU for a Night Minimum,  is this normal?

No, but it is a good idea, at least you can knock both of those out with only one time begin put down.  I would want to be in ICU for montoring personally.  They probably are putting you there beacuse they want to make sure they is no swelling in your airway afterward, which is serious and needs to be watched closely.  Normally nothing bad happens, but they want you close by just in case.  This is just precautionary.

i forgot to mention i also have OSA and use An APAP everynight
