Unexplained respiratory symptoms.

Hi all,

I've been suffering from some sort of respiratory problem for about.. lets see, a year and a half now. It started seemingly out of nowhere, actually, a few weeks after a bad bout of bronchitis (my doctor said it's not related, but it bothers me). My symptoms are painful and debilitating. I can't take a deep breath, when I try to I have a spasm feeling in my chest and a strange pain kind of like the pain you get after a long run, as well as a dull, stiff pain in my left side. I don't have any throat/bronchial tightness that I can feel. Also, when I breathe in using my lungs, my back and chest feel tight, like there's some kind of rubber band around my torso. When I try to breathe in through my diaphragm, the air flows a little easier but I still cannot seem to get a deep breath and the chest pain is still there. The symptoms don't fluctuate or "come and go," it is like this 24/7. I have been diagnosed with asthma and given a Xopenex inhaler as well as an inhaled steroid, neither of which seem to have any effect on my breathing. I constantly feel as though I am out of breath. I also have a very low exertion tolerance.. I get worn out just after walking up stairs. Also, I have chronic dizziness and extreme concentration/cognition issues.
If anyone can offer any advice as to what might be wrong with me or what I should do, it is very much appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Does anyone have any information on Nocardiosis in a apparently healthy individual.  I have never had chills, fever, or anything other than a few bouts of pluracy, a very slight cough....some days less than others and a slight feeling in my lung on a big inhale.  A lung wash culture showed Nocardia bacteria.  Infectious disease Dr. says do another CT scan ... and if there is improvement from the last one, see if my body can fight it off on its own.  Or 3 months on Minocycline.  There is little information I can find on treatment for Nocardia in individuals that demonstrate mild symptons.

I just want to let you know that you are not alone! I have the SAME exact symptoms starting about 1 month ago after about 8 months of coughing up phlem. I have shortness of breath and difficulty with cleaning, exercising, going for walks. I feel the tightness in my chest and upper back too. I do have a lump feeling in my throat. Do you have that feeling? The docotor mentioned reflux but, Im not soo sure. Then I was told it may be anxiety. I do have anxiety but Ive had it for looong time and never experienced this. I dont have the pain in my side though. But oursymptoms are so similar. If I  can figure anything out I'll let you know. If you find anything that it may be can you let me know?
The doctors have done test but they say they dont see anything. Im thinking of going to specialist.
I hope you feel better real soon.

Oops, I made a mistake.

I meant to say the dull stiff pain is in the upper left side of my back.

Thanks again.
