Urgent Help Needed

My to be wife was having sinusitis problems since five months and her voice was changing. We thought that may be its because of sinusitis but recently she complains for pain in throat and we went to an ENT specialist who examins her throat and told us that there is a vocal cord nodule or what we understand is that there is some growth on the vocal cord on right side and and a new one sarting on left side. He advised for an operation to take it out and he also confirmed that voice will be ok after the operation. I am worried that operation is the right thing to do or there is something else we can apply. Please anybody who can give us some advise do it right nowwwwwwwwwwww

Follow the LUNG LINE nurse's great advice. If you can find one near you, a good type of ENT (Ear, nose & throat) doc to see, is a VOICE specialist ENT. And hopefully this Voice ENT would also be aware of how seemingly unrelated conditions like gastric reflux CAN cause or contribute to vocal cord problems!

Vocal cord nodules are caused by chronic voice abuse, such as yelling, shouting, or talking in an unnaturally low frequency.  Hoarseness, a breathy voice, and pain can happen with vocal cord nodules.  Voice exercises help to stop the voice abuse and may help to clear vocal cord nodules.  These are taught by a speech therapist.  When the vocal cord nodules do not clear with speech therapy, surgery is done to remove them.  An ENT is the type of specialist to identify the vocal cord nodules, to surgically remove them, and to test to know that they are not cancer.  Check with the ENT about trying speech therapy before surgery is done.  Another option would be to see a different ENT to get a second opinion.
