I just had a chest CT scan and the Dr. wants to see me because there is something about "Edenopathy". The nurse had never heard of it. Can anyone help explain this please???

Thanks

I think the word may be adenopathy.  This is another term for glands and lymph nodes that are larger than usual.  Since this was seen on a chest CT scan, it may be that the hilar lymph nodes are enlarged.  The lung hilar is the area at the center of the lungs near the heart.  Hilar adenopathy can occur by itself without any other health problem.  There are many causes of enlarged lymph nodes.  When this happens it usually causes no symptoms and is of no consequence.  You will need to follow up with your doctor to know for sure if this information applies to you.

I believe that adenopathy is basically swollen lymph nodes.  I am absolutely no expert, but I do know that my husband has had adenopathy for a couple of years and his doctor isn't very concerned.

I got the impression that the adenopathy could mean any number of things - from something as benign as recovering from a cold to something more serious.

Try not to worry too much.
