White patches in throat.

Ive had a sore throat for about a week. A day ago I looked in the mirror to see how red it was and there are little white patch things all over my tonsils and back of throat. My son who is 1 has also been very very fussy practically crying all day long and refuses to eat most of the time. He has been like this for about four days now.My son has insurance so i will take him to see the doctor but i do not. Does anyone have any idea of what this could be and could it be related to my son? Also if i cant see a doctor for myself are there any home remedies or will i have to suck it up and go to the doctor?

This is probably strep throat and you will both have to be treated.  Perhaps your son's doctor will also provide a prescription for you.

In reading your posting, I was also thinking that the white spots on your sons and your throat may be thrush or a yeast infection . . .

I'm not a doctor by any means...just a mother also.  Thrush can also cause symptoms similar to what you're describing.  I posted a web link with more info above.  It sounds like you both will need treatment.  Hopefully you've already taken your son to the dr.  I've asked my pediatrician a question about myself before - some are willing to take a look real quick and at least tell you if they think you should go to the dr.

the fact your son can't eat is probably strep throat and he should be seen.  the pediatrician if confirms the strep may give you a prescription to cover you too if you ask him.
