does it heal or go away?

COPD does not go away...but it can be manageable. If you smoke, you should stop, quitting smoking is the thing you can do for your lungs. If you are heavy, losing weight would help...if you need to put on pounds (some COPD'ers have problems gaining weight), gaining would be to your advantage. Remain as active as you can (with your doctor's blessing of course), enrolling in a pulmonary rehab program is also beneficial (you are taught how to breathe correctly while exercising, nutrition is also stressed).

Also, learn as much as you can about the disease and become your own best health advocate.
