The description suggests a lung abscess. If the pus pocket does not completely clear up with the antibiotics, it may need to be removed by surgery. If this one-year-old girl stays blue a lot, check with her doctor to see if she should be on oxygen.
In any event this one-year-old girl should be under the care of a pediatric pulmonologist. Also attempts should be made to determine if she has any underlying lung disease or immunologic disorder that would have made her more susceptible to pneumonia.
has your child had any other work up like an immunology test or does she have any other medical history? does she have allergies, does she have reflux? it's hard to watch your child have blue spells...i hope the drs work her up to find out what is causing this or if its been chronic and causing the pus....has she had a culture done of the mucous? good luck
