How long will this go on?

I went to the doctor for feeling exhausted, stuffy, dizzy, and a general feeling of illness.  I could barely speak, I was so weak. The doctor checked my heart(on the machine with wires), did bloodwork(checked my heart enzymes and liver and other organs.  The only thing she mentioned is my white blood cells were a little elevated.  She prescribed antibiotics for ten days.  I took the antibiotics and started feeling better.  I stopped takins as directed(10 days), and within 4-5 days was feeling crummy again.  Went back to the doctor and was prescribed augmentin.  Been taking it for 6 days...still feeling like ****. Tired and a general feeling of illness.  No fever or vomiting.  Is there a possibility of something more serious than a sinus infection.  This has been going on for a month and I am starting to get concerned.  Also, if something were present such as Leukemia, would the blood test show normal for my organs?  Any insight would be greatly appreciated.  Going back to doctor today...any suggestions for questions to pose to him?  Any chance this is Mono?

I had the same symptons from a bacterial infection in the blood which I got from a prostate biopsy.  Your symptons sound just like what I felt.  I suggest you check it out with your doctor.  I was given antibiotics for 20 days and it came back on me in two weeks with a vengence.  Went to hospital for 3 days and after a blood culture, which took two days, they found the baterial infection and prescribed the correct antibiotic.

Hope this helps good luck.

This is obviously of concern to you. First, both Mono and Leukemia would have a different result on the blood test you had. It is often necessary to have a CT scan of the sinus to make the diagnosis of a sinus infection. If you have such an infection, this could cause all the symptoms you have described. It often takes at least 3 weeks of antibiotic therapy to clear this type of infection because it acts like an abscess. If all the rest of your tests were normal, I would pursue this as the problem to treat.
