could it be a blood clot on my lung

I had a very bad cough 18months ago so i stopped smoking.
i coughed up green phlem and later on there was streaks of blood in it,i thought it was a strain on my chest due to the back cough but i am still coughing up blood and my left lung has began to ache.
if it is a clot what is the treatment i am due to go on my holidays in 4 weeks.

Something you can do yourself to improve the lungs and get the toxins out. Do the kapalbhati for 10 minutes for the first 4 weeks, then increase the timing up to 30 minutes. Your progress at some point will help others.
Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.
Kapalbhati pranayam -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for 20 to 30 minutes twice a day. Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.
Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently.
Anulom Vilom pranayam –
Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 15 to 30  minutes twice a day.
Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.

Bhramri Pranayam -Close eyes. Close ears with thumb, index finger on forehead, and rest three fingers on base of nose touching eyes. Breathe in through nose. And now breathe out through nose while humming like a bee.
Duration : 5 to 21  times.

Well at least it isn't an embolism or tuberculosis. Are your doctors having you check your blood pressure every day (preferably in the morning, before you get out of bed)? Are they treating the high blood pressure?

Hello ChristineMP
Sorry its been a while since i contacted you. i received my xray results back and it shows i have a deposit of calcium in my left lung(scarring from previous lung infection) i went to see the Lung Doctor he weighed me measured my height gave me a breathing test and blood pressure. my blood pressure was very high but he put that down to worry. he also said i had small lungs(whatever does that mean) he told me to go back in December for another chest xray but in the mean time if i start coughing up any more blood i have to telephone him straight away, and he will give me a BRONCOSCOPY, i don,t fancy having that done.Regards Lainey85

You need to go see a doctor ASAP. What you describe could be a number of different things, none of which are good, some of which are life threatening and some which are both life threatening AND highly contagious. GO TO DOCTOR NOW!
