Hello and hope you are doing well.

Cough, chest tightness and breathlessness the three symptoms are the triad of symptoms for Asthma. It is a disease affecting the lungs causing narrowing of the airways, usually due to an allergic reaction to triggering factors.

The allergic history usually runs in families.
So, the problem can be tackled at three levels.

At the allergen level, where you can consult an allergy specialist, who after doing some skin tests, will be able to specify some allergens. You can either avoid exposure to these allergens or desensitize yourself.

The second level is prevention of the attacks. For this, there are steroidal inhalers for asthma. The steroid content is very minimal in inhalers and long-term use will prevent attacks.

For wheezing, during the attacks, you can use Asthalin inhalers.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

The difficulty breathing could be due to Asthma. Cough, chest tightness and breathlessness the three symptoms are the triad of symptoms for Asthma. Have yourself evaluated for the same. This can be detected by a spirometry test. The constant coughing could cause muscle strain and chest pain. Sometimes the pleura, the lining of the chest cavity and lungs can get inflamed causing pain with coughing. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Its hard to say from your description what it could be.  I would suggest contacting your doctor or going to your nearest emergency room.

More information is needed.  A seemingly unrelated issue, such as digestive disorders, can cause this to happen.  So, reflux (GERD) or constipation either one can make you feel like you can't quite catch your breath.  If you're bloated, you will also notice that it's difficult to catch your breath.  I also learned that I have something called Vocal Cord Dysfunction, which can also cause this issue.  It feels much like what you're describing, but it's not actually asthma.  Food sensitivities and allergies can also cause this to happen.  You can have the lesser of these, food sensitivities, and feel like you can't quite get your breath.  This is not quite a full blown allergy, but it's nothing to be sneezed at, because such can become a full blown allergy, too.

So, more information on what kinds of things you're dealing with, such as an actual diagnosis of asthma and/or allergies or other respiratory problems or if you're experiencing some of the digestive issues I mentioned above, or a combination of the above.  I'm not sure how common Vocal Cord Dysfunction (VCD) is, but asthma and allergy doctors know what it is.  Most other people don't seem to have heard of it.  It is diagnosed with a camera that goes down the throat in small tubing.  I saw for myself what the doctor was talking about on the monitor.  Basically, the vocal cords do the opposite of what they're supposed to do, so you really can't get that deep breath you need from time to time.  It is unclear what causes VCD, but if that's what you're dealing with, you will need a special speech therapist that knows how to work with VCD patients.  I haven't been able to go yet myself, because health insurance doesn't cover it and I just don't have the out of pocket money for the sessions.  I'm not sure how you will be able to get this figured out in Malaysia, but my guess is that you're dealing with the same thing I am.  It isn't just any speech therapist that you can see for this.  So, don't waste your money on one that doesn't specialize in Vocal Cord Dysfunction.  I don't want to see you get ripped off by someone who claims to be a speech therapist but isn't the right kind of speech therapist.

So, see if you can see an allergist and asthma doctor.  Talk with that doctor and see if your symptoms sound like VCD or if you are actually developing asthma.  My guess is that you are dealing with VCD.  Many doctors have no clue what it is.  I went through years of having doctors act all dismissive with me, because they assumed that what I was dealing with was all in my head.  Nope, not at all.  At least now I know what I'm dealing with.  That's half the battle, since I haven't been able to see the speech therapist yet myself.  Knowing that this is the Vocal Cord Dysfunction, I have at least trained myself not to be so anxious when it does happen to me.  That is actually helpful.
