Several times in my life I had serious pain and the cause turned out to be TMJ - gritting my teeth too hard. The first time it caused a severe pain in my ear and I went from doctor to doctor, confused why none could see the infection in my ear and give me antibiotic.  Finally, a doc steered me to a dentist which confirmed tmj, and gave me muscle relaxers to take at night and the problem cleared up fast.  Another time was from watching my daughter play at a national basketball tournament.  Just being tense over multiple games gave me severe neck/shoulder pains that was hard to believe stemmed from clenching my jaw.  Just recently I got a new pillow and somehow the way I clenched my fist under the pillow, pressing into my cheek started a new round of pain.  Bottom line: TMJ can cause severe pain at distant spots from the jaw. I've also experienced sensitivity to temperature extremes.  In all cases, a few nights with a muscle relaxer was the fix.  My dentist suggested that if I know that I am tense (like at a basketball game) to remind myself to breath with my mouth open, as one can't clench the jaw that way.  Hope your problem is as simple as this!  Gloria

Hi, Im sorry you have horrible pain.

It sounds like you do indeed suffer despite the pain medication you are is not helping that much.

First you have to be a little more specific with your symptoms, like when did the pain first occur, and how long have you had it?
Does anything make it worse or better?
Do you get facial puffines or swelling along with your pain?
Do the headaches and Jaw pain come usually after eating?
Also do you have mucus in the back of your throat?
Are you on any medications that would cause jaw tension, such as adderall, antidepressants, or ritalin, anything that causes muscle tension.

You realize Its hard to tell if you have a sinus headache over the internet. You would have to visit an ENT specailist and get looked at.
A sinus headache can cause pain in the forehead eyes, but espically in the cheeks around the nose, thats where the sinuses are located, not in the Jaw. The only way to rule out sinuitis is to go to an ENT and get a CT done of your sinuses.
The Jaw pain is usually called TMJ, and it hurts like a b%$ch.
I have TMJ, I also have facial puffiness jaw pain and mucus, that drains down the back of my throat after I eat. Also hot and cold things induce the flow of mucus, and I get headaches all over my face and espically my jaw.

let me know more about your symptoms.

There are several things that can cause this from a tooth problem to a sinus problem.  I would suggest seeing your doctor to start the process of identifying the problem and taking care of it.  You may need a dental referral and a CT scan of the sinuses to get to the cause.
